In the neighborhood: BONG
Still dreaming of the TUK TREY KOH KONG crispy whole fried fish. Perfect summer dish over at 724 Sterling Pl, Brooklyn NY
When I first met chefs Chakriya Un and Alexander Chaparro (char & chapi) it was at Pioneer Works where they did a pop up during the Press Play book fair.
We shared mutual friends and stories of being at Siem Reap. Seeing Angkor Wat at sunrise during the eclipse was our favorite moment while on the Wear Many Hats World Tour. Chapi told me the story of him proposing to Char there and I held back tears.
We arrived at Bong for our friend, Danny’s birthday and everyone in our crew was swarming the restaurant with mouth watering faces waiting for the other patrons to finish up before our time. It was worth the wait.
There was a sign on the door that said closed for a private party and a private party it was because there was wine pouring left and right for friends of BONG and Danny’s. The apps and mains were delish. The corn.. the shrimps.. the pork (friends loved it) .. but I loved the beef.
If you won’t take my word for it, take theirs:
If you want to go, here’s the Resy!
