I was in Toronto a week before the plane crash
What would I do with the $30,000 Delta is offering to passengers on Delta Air Lines Flight 4819?
The start of our Wear Many Hats World Tour began in Toronto, Ontario. We started the tour back in Montreal 2 years ago and it was one for the books.
Canada rules. I drink Canada Dry on the plane to celebrate and I like The Weeknd since nobody else does.
Toronto
A week before, I get a text from my friend’s wife to surprise my friend to come visit Toronto. No questions asked, I booked it in a heartbeat. Me and the homie chat everyday, talk about the state of the world, give unsolicited work advice and collaborate here and there. I haven’t been to Toronto since I was a kid and I visited Niagara Falls with the family. Do I remember it? Of course not. Would I go again. No.
Being in Toronto was not on the list. Whereas I would never go somewhere where temperatures are below freezing than NYC for vacation. I hate the cold. I’m not a snow bunny. I need the beach, warmth, and want to wear a t-shirt. Toronto was chill. Meeting friends and guests of the show, being in a city that had suburban under tones, and it was nice to surprise my friend for his birthday. Even though he knew.
For his birthday we all did b2b micro sets on Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000 controllers with a Pioneer DJ DJM-A9 mixer everyday that weekend. It was so much fun. I got to preview my new matcha brand to friends and guests of Wear Many Hats and see my good friend IRL in good spirits and good health.
Toronto reminds me of a mix of Portland, OR and New Orleans, LA.
Grind
Obviously the start of the new year is always a rough one, especially when electing a new president. Also when it’s someone who came in before and made it worse. Yes, I’m talking Trump but now with Elon in the mix? What is going on at Capitol Hill? Elon tanked his company Tesla, Trump is gutting every program making, USA unlivable day by day, and Kanye (even though he has no say in the oval office) is set to make his legacy forgettable. All I’m trying to be is good and curb my spending.
I have so much anxiety from the state of the world and I now grind my teeth in my sleep. I fractured the back of my right molar and have caused unbearable pain for a couple days. Luckily, the dentist showed X-rays of no crack in the molar but possible root canal, and found ways via Reddit research to save my back right molar +recovery. Magnesium rebuilds teeth, strong bones, etc I’m not a doctor but I saved it as well as get a custom mouthguard.
I can’t do this mindset grindset mentality anymore. No more hustling. No more running from party to party. No more chaotic guest list lines. No more keeping track of what I said before and backtracking. I’ve been going back to my 20s era of having multiple jobs. I’ve been doing it for my mental health but all my body wants to do is go to Modo Yoga and Good Time Pilates.
Airplanes
One in particular that has stood out is airplanes crashing. This puts a damp on everyone since people are flying out every hour. I already have flight anxiety. As I get older I’m scared of heights, I drive very slow, and I’m minimizing risk each day. Airplanes having emergency landings in the headlines and the DC crash has made my stomach drop. We hear that it’s rare but we learn to live another day. Now I have turned to God and religion when I’m boarding.
I hate turbulence which has now been rebranded to rough air.
A week later after being in Toronto, there was a similar Delta flight that flew into Toronto with the same build, coming into Toronto Pearson International Airport. When the plane landed, it crashed, flipped over, and everyone managed to walk away. It was coming in from Minneapolis, another brickass city. We don’t know exactly what went down but all I can say is that when I was on the plane coming in, it was coming in hot. I was texting everyone telling I loved them etc etc.
Delta Air Lines Flight 4819 came in, crashed, caught on fire, and then flipped over. This is sheer luck by the plane slipping on the ice when it flipped over where it’s an act of God put the fire out on the snow. Usually act of god is a negative thing but I’m counting my blessings. I sound like unc.
I’ve seen the videos, I’m sure you have too. Delta is now issuing $30,000 to each of the individuals, has no strings attached and does not affect rights.
So would I take it? Of course but does it change anything? No. I’m scarred for life on planes after that. Would I be able to do another Wear Many Hats World Tour? Go to my best friends wedding in Bali? Retire in Thailand? How would I get to all these places I love via airplane?
Now what would I do with the $30,000 from Delta.
First thing I would do is put $20,000 away in investments.
$2,203 in therapy.
